About Little Learners at First Methodist Carlsba
At First Methodist Carlsbad’s Mother’s Day Out ministry, Little Learners is a place where your child is known, loved, and encouraged to grow.
We serve children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K in a safe, nurturing environment designed to support both early learning and strong emotional development. Our goal is to partner with families by providing a space where children can explore, play, and build foundational skills that prepare them for the future.
Most importantly, we intentionally create moments for each child to experience the love of Jesus. Through kindness, care, and age-appropriate faith-based teaching, we want every child to leave knowing they are deeply loved—by us and by Him.
Whether it’s your baby’s first time away or your preschooler preparing for their next step, we are here to walk alongside your family with open arms.
A Typical Day at Little Learners
Doors open at 9:00AM for drop off. Each individual classroom has their own schedule that is adapted for that age group.
Every Tuesday we have Chapel time where we gather as a whole to praise and worship, and be taught God’s word. We believe that this fellowship is one of the most important times in our schedule.
Every Thursday classes rotate through our music and movement class and our Bible Stories class. This is a joyful, energetic, and developmentally rich experience for our students.
Each class gets a designated recess time, to play on our equipment in our courtyard.
Doors open at 12:30PM for parents to begin pick up, but it is not required to pick up until 1:00PM.
FAQ’s
What is your schedule?
Our hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00AM-1:00PM. Our fist day of school is September 02.2025. We always start our school year the first Tuesday after Labor Day. We follow the Carlsbad Municipal Schools schedule and have the same holiday breaks as them.
What does my child need daily ?
We ask that parents send their children with a packed lunch
(peanut free) and a spill proof water bottle. Children who are in diapers need to have plenty in their cubby to be utilized throughout the day. They also need a spare change of clothes to be kept in their cubby. Children who are potty trained ( ages 3 and up) just need a spare change of clothes for their cubby.
What security measures do you have in place?
We utilize the app ProCare for parents to check in and check out children. We also utilize a security system that records at all times. All children’s ministry leaders are background checked and 2 or more adults are present at all times. We aim to have a low student-to-staff ratio in order to ensure individual attention.
What curriculum do you use?
We develop our own curriculum that goes along with what the entire congregation is learning.
When does enrollment open?
We open enrollment to the public the first Tuesday in April. Our currenty enrolled Little Learners will have the opportunity to reenroll for the following school year the whole month of March.
