The mission statement of our church is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread Scriptural holiness across the globe.” This is based on Jesus’ Great Commission to his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This means that everything we do in the life of the church should aim to make more and maturing disciples and help them be formed increasingly into the likeness of Jesus. Although disciple-making is the church’s clear mission, many of us may be scratching our heads, wondering, “How do we actually do this?”This workshop will be led by Rev. Dr. Jason Fry, church planter of a new GMC congregation in Alpine, TX. He will share what he is learning about discipleship and multiplication in his church- planting efforts — lessons we can put into practice here in Carlsbad. He will lift up five “shifts” in focus we could make in the life of the church so that everything we do is more clearly focused on making disciples here in Carlsbad, across all our ministry areas, and around the world.
